About The Position

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, the Accounting Assistant for Grants, Contracts, and Fundraising identifies and applies for funding opportunities that meet the organization’s needs, including overseeing the grant application process from beginning to end, maintaining the donor management system, and assisting with contract negotiations. This position also ensures that project deliverables and all required documentation for grants and contracts are completed on time. This position is full-time and non-exempt.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate potential new sources for funding.
  • Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques and grading criteria.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and responsibility.
  • Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet simultaneous deadlines for multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and prepare budgets and financial grant reports.
  • Ability to be discreet with sensitive information needed for grants and contracts, such as agency finances, employee salaries, and upcoming projects.
  • An associate's degree in a field related to the mission of GHS is required.
  • Must pass the Department of Corrections and Department of Health background checks or qualify for a variance.
  • Must pass drug test upon hire.
  • Must have a current, valid State of Alaska driver's license or ID and be insurable by GHS’s auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of grant writing experience is highly preferred. Experience may substitute for the education requirement.
  • Experience using a donor management system and/or leading fundraising efforts for an organization is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and applies for funding opportunities that support the mission, goals, and current strategic plan of Gastineau Human Services.
  • Coordinates ongoing monitoring and evaluation of all grant and contract-funded programs and projects.
  • Leads fundraising efforts for the agency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
