About The Position

Fiscal Shared Services (FSS) is composed of several service teams who provideaccounting support and customer service to departments across the MSUBozeman campus while collaborating closely with central University offices. Eachteam is led by a Service Team Lead (STL) who enables their staff to perform a widevariety of business processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, andfinancial reporting and analysis. The Service Team Lead supports, develops, andmentors a team of experts; collaborates with colleagues across FSS on processimprovement; provides critical backup and support to maintain operationalconsistency; and sets the tone for an enjoyable and rewarding workingenvironment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or arelated field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Progressively responsible experience in accounting or fiscal management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills to successfully supervise staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, utilizing strong leadership and management skills.
  • Experience performing financial reporting and analysis, utilizingcomputerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, databases, and word-processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, sustaining an effective, high-performing team that provides excellent customer service to client departments.
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work through the team and clear communications with client units, providing accurate services in a highly responsive manner.
  • Ensure accounting is compliant with state and federal rules, generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting, and financial reporting standards.
  • Research and make judgments and interpretations on policy and compliance questions with support from other team leads and management structure.
  • Ensure the quality of the team's work: auditing, reviewing, and approving reports, corrections, invoices, payments, and other transactions as needed.
  • Develop and lead training sessions for staff amongst the client user groups and provide direct support and training for new hires throughout the client user groups regarding accounting procedures.
  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation of procedures for the team.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of client units sufficient to understand goals. Service to Clients
  • Provide excellent customer service in accordance with MSU's Service Excellence culture.
  • Provide accurate financial information to client units, assisting with questions, communications, transactions, reports, policy interpretations, etc. as needed.
