About The Position

Century Therapeutics (NASDAQ: IPSC) is a biotechnology company advancing a pipeline of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell therapies with the potential to meaningfully address autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes, and cancer. The company’s therapies are derived from its iPSC cell foundry and leverage its novel immune evasion engineering technology, Allo-Evasion™. Century believes its approach to developing off-the-shelf cell therapies will expand patient access and provide advantages over existing cell therapies which will ultimately advance the course of care. Role This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Finance function. The ideal candidate has a thorough knowledge of general accounting methods, principles and practices and has attained a broad range of work experience across financial reporting, accounting, and business operations. They possess excellent knowledge of US GAAP; and are able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity. The ideal candidate has experience operating in or performing audits of companies that are required to comply with Sarbanes Oxley. This individual will report to the Corporate Controller and support the growing accounting department as well as other business functions including Procurement, FP&A, HR, IT, Legal and Business Development. The core of the work combines elements of accounting, financial planning, and process design and implementation. The individual will be highly detail oriented as the job demands meticulous and thorough attention to detail. This position is based in our Philadelphia headquarters but will support our other two locations, which include our Watertown, Massachusetts Research site, and our GMP Manufacturing site in Branchburg, New Jersey. The expected annual salary range for this role is approximately $155,000 - $165,000 depending on experience. Additional benefits offered include but are not limited to an annual performance-based bonus (prorated by start date), medical, dental, and vision insurance, matching 401K plan, and 20+ days per-year of PTO (prorated by start date).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or other life-science industry and preferably with public companies.
  • Familiarity and comfort operating in a start-up/entrepreneurial environment, making the most of bandwidth and resources in a fast-paced workplace.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work of other employees and third party contractors.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks/responsibilities and rapidly pivot between tasks based on company needs.
  • Ability to be a strong thought-partner to cross-functional colleagues.
  • Ability to influence management, resolve conflict, and get things done quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to create structure and definition in situations that are uncertain or ambiguous.
  • Collaborates well with team members, building trust and respect through all interactions.
  • CPA certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including hands-on preparation of select areas and serving as the primary reviewer for others.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assist in the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of an internal control environment in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Maintain sufficient supporting documentation of key controls to facilitate testing of the controls by internal and external auditors.
  • Lead the preparation of, or oversee external resources responsible for SEC filings (10-K and 10-Q).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Partner with FP&A team and other members of finance team to build budgets and monitor budget to actuals.
  • Support the administration of stock based compensation, program, ESPP and 401(k) plans.
  • Support daily treasury operations by monitoring cash and investment accounts and short-term liquidity needs.
