About The Position

Seattle Pacific University is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of the University’s financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This position is especially well-suited for an early-career accounting professional who is eager to deepen their technical expertise while gaining hands-on experience with Workday Financial Management in a higher education environment. You will play a meaningful role in both day-to-day accounting operations and the continued implementation and optimization of Workday across the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • 1–3 years of accounting, finance, or related experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (Workday or Banner preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and sound financial practices
  • Interest in systems, process improvement, and ERP optimization

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Prepare and post journal entries; assist with month-end close processes
  • Prepare internal financial reports for departments and University leadership
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain documentation to support reconciliations and internal control requirements
  • Participate in the ongoing implementation, testing, and enhancement of Workday Financial Management
  • Support system configuration and process improvements to strengthen reporting and efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure effective system integration
  • Assist in training and supporting campus users in financial processes within Workday
  • Support external audit processes by preparing documentation and reports
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and applicable accounting standards
  • Monitor financial transactions for adherence to internal controls
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Partner with departments across campus to provide financial insights and support
  • Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
