About The Position

The Accounting Analyst position is an opportunity to become directly involved in the monthly closing process and daily operations of the Corporate Accounting area within the Controllers Division. The Accounting Analyst uses a variety of computer software packages and other financial system reports to assist in posting journal entries to the general ledger, to reconcile various general ledger accounts, and to report, analyze, and reconcile financial data related to premium and claims for various BCBSMA products and lines of business. The Accounting Analyst will be someone with solid analytical skills who enjoys the research and reconciliation process, has strict attention to detail, and can work independently while meeting deadlines. This role is eligible for the following personas: Mobile. Candidates local to Boston, MA are preferred. Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong work ethic
  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounting or related field desired
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel/Access
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a variety of spreadsheets/pivot tables from daily/monthly data files to support journal entries.
  • Prepare numerous journal entries related to stop loss insurance premiums, cash and claims.
  • Prepare numerous account reconciliations.
  • Utilize various data software packages to support/analyze data related to claims/premium activity.
  • Work in team environment to maintain Stop Loss Contract System and Oracle accounting subledger
  • Communicate with stop loss customers for claim payments, work with account payable and Run EOR for customers and account executives
  • Prepare wire requests for claim payments and update ESL with payment information.
