About The Position

The Accounting Analyst I will provide accounting and finance coverage for all WM Area Finance/Accounting teams and Corporate Finance/Accounting departments (i.e. finance, accounting, internal audit, treasury). The analyst will be assigned to support projects and assignments across a variety of Finance functions.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Accounting, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years or relevant work experience
1 year of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement)

Responsibilities

Performs month-end close activities for assigned areas of responsibility including preparing journal entries for entry into the general ledger.
Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy
Prepares monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and adequately documents conclusions.
Prepares basic financial reports in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.
Participates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls.
Executes internal controls responsibilities timely and accurately.
Performs simple financial projects on an ad hoc basis.
Monitors key financial performance measures.
