We’re hiring an Accountant at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO, and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. This position is onsite. The Accounting role includes managing inventory through cycle counts and adjustments, communicating with general managers about inventory concerns, assisting with the monthly close by preparing general ledger entries and reconciliations, reviewing accounts payable coding, supporting outside auditors, maintaining various financial schedules, and performing other general accounting duties.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient with accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience is preferred.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares periodic cycle counts and inventory adjustments.
  • Communicates with general managers to address concerns regarding inventory costing and count scheduling.
  • Supports monthly close by preparing assigned general ledger entries.
  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts monthly, verifies underlying support, and addresses inquiries or discrepancies.
  • Reviews coding of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Maintains account roll-forwards, prepaid, accrual, amortization or other schedules as required.
  • Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department as assigned.
