About The Position

Miscellaneous Receivables and Project Accounting (MARPA) team is responsible for tracking and administering of billings and related payments that are not associated with the Entergy Utility business or Utility Customers, as well as accounting for Entergy’s non-regulated companies. This position will support Project Accounting , which is responsible for the billing and collections for various non-regulated entities and oversees the record to report function for that line of business. Project Accounting maintains the books for Entergy’s non-regulated entities and is responsible for recording MISO settlements, preparing financial statements, cash management and completing quarterly and annual filings to meet external reporting requirements. This role provides support to a manager and/or departmental peers by performing accounting related activities, applying accounting standards and principles to financial transactions, interpreting and applying policies, and executing business processes and associated controls. Additionally, this position plays a key role in project and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • Accountant Lead: 6+ years’ of accounting-related work experience.
  • Accountant Sr Lead: 8 years of accounting-related work experience.
  • Utility accounting experience and working knowledge of the FERC uniform system of accounts desired
  • Working knowledge of Entergy’s financial/accounting processes a plus.
  • Technical systems-based capabilities and understanding desired.
  • Display strong analytical skills by using knowledge of tools and business processes to identify problems and resolve issues.
  • Ability to work effectively - either independently or in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Certifications such as CPA or making progress toward CPA.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assignments requiring understanding and application of accounting principles, practices, and concepts (i.e. preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, computations, analysis, etc.)
  • Use of PeopleSoft, Oracle, and other technology to perform accounting duties
  • Perform financial statement results analysis for accounts within area of responsibility
  • Accepts ownership of business processes and associated controls.
  • Significant interface with internal and external customers, including functional business unit representatives, auditors, etc
  • Applies analytical and problem-solving skills to accounting issues
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities.
  • Performs testing of controls to support Sarbanes Oxley compliance
