About The Position

As an Accountant, you will work closely with a Financial Reporting Manager and other accounting staff to complete projects that support the bank and the holding company, assisting in the implementation of accounting standards and SEC and regulatory financial reporting. This position provides accounting support by performing duties such as operational accounting, journal entries, account/bank reconciliations, accruals, amortizations, transaction analysis, Treasury & investment accounting, inter-company accounting, accounting research, and ad hoc projects. You will also collaborate with external and internal auditors and examiners, providing support and documentation. The role ensures compliance with SOX, all policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in Accounting, Finance (GL Mgmt., Public Reporting, Analysis) or similar field
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
  • Intermediate understanding of AP principles and GAAP
  • Intermediate proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or MBA in related field preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a Financial Reporting Manager and other accounting staff to complete projects that support the bank and the holding company to assist in implementation of accounting standards and SEC and regulatory financial reporting
  • Provide accounting support to the bank and the holding company by performing accounting duties including operational accounting, journal entries, account/bank reconciliations, accruals, amortizations, transaction analysis, Treasury & investment accounting, inter-company accounting, accounting research and ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Work closely with external and internal auditors and examiners to assist in fielding questions and providing supporting documentation in a professional and timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, all policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations
  • Work closely with the Managers to complete the month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes
  • Provide support to all assigned areas in the Accounting Department where service or assistance is needed
  • Prepare and process complex journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Learn various tasks throughout the Accounting team to facilitate adequate coverage of tasks
  • Assist in accounting transactions that require research and analysis
  • Interface with management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies concerning accounting and SOX requirements
