About The Position

Buffalo is excited to be working on an excellent opportunity for an Accountant role, located in Buffalo, NY! This full-time, in-person position offers a competitive salary of $65,000 – $73,000 annually , along with excellent benefits. The Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial reports, reconciling accounts, supporting audits, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Must reside in the City of Buffalo or be willing to relocate within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Not-for-profit, municipal, and/or government accounting experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, tax filings, and 1099 preparation.
  • Maintain fixed asset and inventory records, and support grant reporting and compliance.
  • Review purchase orders, contracts, and expenditures for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for audits, grants, and external reporting.
  • Conduct bank and general ledger reconciliations to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Develop and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Provide support for external audits and internal reviews
  • Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve efficiency
