Position Summary This position is intended for a candidate seeking growth opportunity in a dynamic organization. The position is responsible for all accounting tasks for an insurance company, which include recording premiums produced by the Agent and losses handled by claims, along with applying cash relating to open receivables. This position will be assigned a book of business and will interact with other Arch departments (Underwriters, Operations, Claims, IT and Corporate Finance) and Agency. The position will be expected to learn the process and produce timely and accurate financial reporting of their assigned accounts. This role is hybrid (2 days remote, 3 days in the office), and will sit in either our Jersey City, NJ, Hartford, CT, Garden City, NY, or Philadelphia, PA office.

Requirements

  • Highly proficient with Excel, including strong knowledge of vlookups, pivot tables, formulas, and data management, MS Word, Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Workday Financials or other cloud ERP systems
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills, with keen ability to analyze issues
  • Proactive and able to organize and prioritize to meet multiple demands and commitments
  • Ability to improve and evaluate processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ years of financial analysis and accounting experience, excluding internship experience, preferably in insurance, financial services, or a public organization

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (i.e. Power BI)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for financial close activity, including but not limited to:
  • Prepare various business unit financial statements and supporting exhibit
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Process manual entries to sub-ledger and general ledger:
  • Calculate reinsurance transactions according to contracts
  • Prepare Reinsurance Statements monthly
  • Process all Reinsurance related cash activity and update applicable sub-ledgers
  • Assist with financial audits
  • Participate in special projects and financial analysis as assigned by management
