About The Position

As an Associate Accountant or Accountant, you will prepare bank reconciliations, assist with preparation of tax forms and financial statement exhibits, post journal entries to multiple ledgers, and support subsidiary accounting. Additionally, as an Accountant, you will develop and analyze financial statements, exhibits, and reporting, prepare and submit various tax forms and work with various agencies responding to inquiries and other departments as needed. This is a hybrid eligible position with remote work consideration. This position may require planned visits to a Company office. Description of Duties & Responsibilities of an Associate Accountant or Accountant:  Assist with the preparation of various tax forms, including sales tax returns, premium and municipal tax returns, and state tax forms for parent, subsidiaries and non-profit. Assist with preparation of financial statement exhibits for budgeting, forecasting, planning, and statutory reporting. Create general ledger entries and reconcile various general ledger accounts. Prepare bank reconciliations and assist in daily banking transactions. Post invoices and other transactions in subsidiary accounting software using information from the revenue system to ensure that records are posted timely and accurately. Assist team in researching accounting variances and working with various departments to correct accounting entries. Assist accountant in developing supporting documentation for external sources as needed. Input new assets into fixed asset software, record asset amortization and depreciation and reconcile balances to the general ledger. Special projects as needed or assigned. Interface subsidiary ledger and post general ledger entries to develop financial statements for review. Respond, under management guidance, to inquiries and requests from tax and regulatory agencies, auditors, and other external sources. Research accounting variances and work with various departments to correct accounting entries and provide supportive training as needed. Assist management with supporting documentation and preparation for audits. Work with Management to create dashboards and analytics in Adaptive software. Handle more complex processing issues, provide processing support and assist with training.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Accounting is required for the Associate Accountant position. Internship experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Accounting is required for the Accountant position.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in insurance accounting preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software (especially Quickbooks) is preferred.
