About The Position

The Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of Good 2 Go Stores, including reconciliations, non-trade accounts payable, store improvements, equipment (fixed assets), and general ledger activity. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and supports month-end and year-end processes in a fast-paced, multi-location retail environment.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Possess a questioning mind with the ability to think independently
  • Ability to constructively challenge situations and present reasonable alternatives
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and investigate potential accounting or internal control issues
  • Self-directed and proactive, able to work independently within broad guidelines
  • Build teamwork and cooperation across individuals and departments, partnering regularly with operations in a consultative manner
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills by actively listening, transmitting accurate information and seeking feedback
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Words

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring information is complete and accurate for month-end close to meet company-established deadlines and standards
  • Preparing and completing general ledger entries
  • Supporting the daily activities of A/P and A/R, including recognizing capital expenditures versus operating expenses
  • Ensuring expense accruals are correctly recorded
  • Reconciling lottery transactions, allocating lottery payments, and ensuring stores complete weekly lottery submissions
  • Analyzing operating costs and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Completing inventory management and controlling processes for the Company
  • Responding to inquiries from Controller, Vice President and President
