The Accountant, Technical Accounting will support complex accounting initiatives, including business combinations, financial reporting, and technical accounting matters. This role involves analyzing transactions, preparing accounting documentation, and collaborating across teams to ensure compliance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Understanding of US GAAP and experience in applying to various transactions and fact patterns.
  • Ability to navigate and research accounting topics using the accounting codification and other sources
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of organization
  • Proficient in use of technology, especially Microsoft Office Products and Microsoft Copilot.
  • Has strong analytical abilities combined with general accounting knowledge.
  • Ability to work with the accounting and functional groups and senior management to collect, normalize and analyze data for financial reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Professional/lived experience working in a culturally competent manner with a broad range of people.
  • BS in Accounting
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting or equivalent industry experience

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or OneStream a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting for business combinations responsibilities:
  • Pre-acquisition, participate in due diligence calls, perform financial analysis, coordinate with external parties as needed
  • Post-acquisition, perform basic audit procedures to ensure acquisition’s closing balance sheet is in conformity with US GAAP.
  • Post-acquisition, prepare and maintain acquisition chart of accounts mapping, trial balance data loads, and other pre-integration duties as needed.
  • Post-acquisition, prepare technical accounting memos or policies to address deviations from US GAAP or judgmental accounting issues.
  • Post-acquisition, prepare purchase price accounting calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Post-integration, provide necessary documentation to other members of the accounting department to ensure those individuals can perform Month-End close procedures for the acquisition.
  • Work efficiently to meet both internal and external deadlines for business combination and other responsibilities.
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual external reporting process by preparing schedules, analyses, and other supporting documentation for the financial statements and footnotes
  • Prepare inputs to the monthly consolidation process, including journal entries, rollforwards, account reconciliations, intercompany review, metadata updates for the consolidation system and variance analyses
  • Assist in the ownership and preparation of complex accounting areas, such as stock-based compensation, derivatives, leases, cash flows, revenue recognition, etc.
  • Research accounting guidance issued by the FASB and SEC
  • Maintain or improve upon record retention and process documentation.
  • Prepare for and ensure efficient and effective execution of external audits.
  • Assist with various special and ad hoc projects as needed, including preparation of subsidiary financial statements, and providing analysis and assistance to various departments related to consolidated balances, as applicable
