About The Position

The Accountant, Property Accounting will join the property accounting team supporting a high‑profile and growing portfolio of healthcare real estate assets within the Senior Housing group. This role will participate in all aspects of the monthly accounting close cycle and will be responsible for producing accurate, timely property‑level financial statements with a focus on continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is ambitious, detail‑oriented, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain broad exposure within a publicly traded company operating at the intersection of healthcare and real estate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (with concentration in Accounting) or Accounting degree; CPA preferred
  • 1+ years of accounting experience
  • Must be located in the Louisville, KY surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment
  • Willingness to adapt and thrive in a blended work environment with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations.
  • Financial reporting experience is a plus, preferably within the real estate industry
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; SOX experience a plus
  • Proficient in Excel (lookups, data cleaning, PivotTables); Yardi experience a plus
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and analyze accounting results for the senior living operations segment.
  • Prepare month‑end close deliverables, including journal entries, supporting schedules, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of property‑level financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of accounting policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Interpret management agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment; apply understanding of foreign currency exchange and translation impacts.
  • Build strong working relationships with third‑party operators and collaborate with FP&A and Asset Management to analyze and communicate financial results.
  • Prepare information required for external reporting and ensure compliance with internal control processes.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and assist with property integrations, transitions, dispositions, and ad‑hoc projects.
