About The Position

The Accountant III performs advanced accounting and financial analysis for the Extended and Extension Campus and Environmental programs. This position supports departmental leadership by Managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Centers and Contracts while preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, ensuring compliance with university policies. Work is performed with minimal supervision and requires strong accounting, analytical, and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Four (4) Years of accounting experience or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of Higher Education Experience.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft FMS and MANTIS .
  • Experience working with multiple sources & types of funds with different regulations and project periods; experience in an academic or continuing education environment, including student/registration/course management software.

Responsibilities

  • Create, process, and manage EEC Accounting email response and disbursement, Salary Workbook, vouchers, APS forms, Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and refunds.
  • Reviewing and supporting Accountant I and II projects and tasks for timeliness, and compliance with State, University, and sponsor procedures and regulations.
  • Manage and execute the set up and closing of Projects and Cost Centers for EEC , Including the reconciliation of division specific documents with UT Share (Peoplesoft) to ensure consistency and accuracy. GSA Payments, Aging Reports, Unearned Revenue, and late notices communications as needed.
  • Processes the daily deposit, including creating the daily revenue report. This includes counting cash, checks, and credit card payments.
  • Assist management in planning, assigning, cross-training, and/or supervising the work of interns, student assistants, work study, and/or casual employees assigned in the performance of accounting transactions, data entry, reporting, invoicing, reconciliations, tracking logs, and communications to contract sponsors and others.
  • Manage, prepare, and process accounting transactions, such as but not limited to Timekeeping, research, vendor payments, travel/expense reimbursements, extra pay/stipends, purchase requisitions, payroll, and salary assignments. As well as being a Modern Campus liaison with the accounting manager.
  • Special projects, Division financial tasks, and other duties as assigned.
