Main responsibilities: The Accounting team has an opening for an Accountant II in the Warehouse Accounting department. The primary function of this position is the analysis of warehouse gain/loss and over/short trends for accuracy. They work closely with our DC staff and collaborate with other departments while using various means of research to resolve accounting issues. They review and manage invoices and purchase orders to ensure postings are accurate. They will prepare period close journal entries and reconcile high risk accounts accurately and in a timely manner. Additionally, this position oversees the DC freight invoice processing and accruals. They also are responsible for reconciling PO activity related to our import programs. The position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.

Requirements

  • Ability to coordinate and direct workflow within the department.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced level PC skills with knowledge of databases, Windows and Microsoft Office products.
  • High degree of initiative, accuracy, and adaptability.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to meet rigid time constraints.
  • Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting the strongest business ethics.
  • Highly effective customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Independent decision maker.
  • Four-year business degree required (preferably Accounting).
  • Two or more years accounting experience in a large organization with mainframe-based accounting.
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of GAAP.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze warehouse gain/loss and inventory over/short trends to maintain accuracy of P&L
  • Research and collaborate with various supply chain teams to resolve accounting issues.
  • Prepare period close journal entries with high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain reconciliations of subsidiary details to ledger accounts, including high risk accounts.
  • Train and assist associates in specific tasks and use of systems.
  • Review team journal entries and invoice payments for accuracy.
  • Work on special projects assigned by management.
