About The Position

A leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is currently seeking an Accountant II to join our team. The Accountant II reports to the Accounting Vice President and plays a crucial role in maintaining general ledger integrity and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards. This position is integral to the month-end and year-end close processes, providing accurate and timely financial data and analysis to support operational and financial decision-making. This role requires a solid foundation in accounting principles, experience preferably within a manufacturing or project-based environment, and strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in general or cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and complex formulas) used for data validation and error-checking.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with industry-standard ERP systems used in a manufacturing environment and spreadsheet software.
  • General exposure to AI-enhanced tools for task management or data analysis; ability to leverage emerging technology to streamline routine accounting tasks.
  • Accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ethical and trustworthy conduct and adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and posts journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Performs reconciliations for bank accounts and various balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists in annual audit, month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Audits employee credit card spend for policy adherence and coding accuracy.
  • Provides support to Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) as needed, including unit invoicing.
  • Collaborates closely with Purchasing, Service, and Sales Operations to resolve discrepancies and enhance financial accuracy.
  • Researches and assists with vendor or customer inquiries.
  • Reconciles Work-in-Progress (WIP) and inventory subledgers to general ledger.
  • Reviews and investigates inventory variances.
  • Supports annual physical inventory count
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation to support internal and external audits.
  • Conducts audits of journal entries, prepaid expenses, and accruals to guarantee GAAP compliance.
  • Ensures all accounting practices comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Identifies opportunities for automation and workflow enhancement.
  • Participates in ERP upgrades, testing, and system improvements.
