The Accountant II is a key contributor to the financial operations of Industrial Finishes, responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records and reporting. This position performs a broad range of accounting duties, from day-to-day reconciliations and ledger maintenance to consolidated financial statement preparation, and requires someone who exercises trusted control and sound discretion in handling sensitive financial information. Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in general accounting principles.
  • Comfortable working independently across multiple functions while supporting the broader finance team's reporting needs.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a business accounting position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • High level of organizational and communication skills, integrity, professionalism, and flexibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and perform varied technical accounting and bookkeeping work with accuracy and sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Takes ownership of their work and understands the impact of their performance on the company's success.
  • Presents a professional manner in all interactions with both internal and external customers.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite required.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly reconciliations of assigned accounts, prepare monthly and yearly journal entries, and perform monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables in compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage sales and use tax processes, returns filing and payments, and coordinate exemption certificate management (ECM) with the AR team.
  • Manage fixed assets, depreciation, right of use (ROU) assets, and property tax returns filing and payments.
  • Oversee inventory and obsolescence accounting, allocate and track insurance expenses, and maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Coordinate regular audits for accuracy of accounts and prepare year-end schedules for assigned accounts for review by external auditors.
  • Work with the Controller and accounting team members to ensure proper internal controls are in place and maintained.
