About The Position

A leading Northern California agriculture cooperative is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to join their organization. This position will be responsible for all day to day and month end processing, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and invoicing. Key duties include calculating and recording inventory, processing grower payments, and maintaining various general ledger reconciliations and schedules. Additionally, this role oversees general recordkeeping and the filing of sales contracts. As an operational support role, this position performs intermittent grain desk duties as needed; workload and duties will shift based on the seasonality of the Ag industry.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree with three years of related experience, or a minimum of five years’ experience performing bookkeeping and accounting duties.
  • Experience with Windows-based software.
  • Solid knowledge of Accounts Receivable, General Ledger Accounting, and Full-Charge Bookkeeping.
  • Experience utilizing QuickBooks.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work overtime during month-end close and peak agricultural seasons.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • An understanding of inventory accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process all day-to-day and month-end accounts receivable and payables, and generate commercial invoicing for product shipped and sold.
  • Track and account for all grain inventory received from growers for payment and maintain that inventory to be sold on various contracts and commercial invoices.
  • Reconcile various accounts, including General Ledger, Customer, Inventory and others as needed.
  • Prepare and process monthly general ledger journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare financial statements and various reports at month-end.
  • Assist with preparation for year-end audit by preparing various schedules and reports as required.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and perform treasury functions as required.
  • Assist with making deposits and the posting of incoming receipts.
  • May at times answer phones and greet/assist growers and customers as needed.
  • Contribute to other office duties and projects as required.
