About The Position

Westgate Resorts is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to join our team at Smoky Mountain Resort in Gatlinburg, TN. This role is perfect for those looking to build a strong foundation in accounting, with responsibilities including daily cash reconciliations, revenue auditing, and journal entry preparation.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of two year’s relative experience in a month end close general ledger environment
  • Must have experience with an ERP software, preferably Oracle
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Must be able to take and pass a basic accounting and Excel assessment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills written and oral
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a group environment (team player)
  • Willingness to work overtime to assist financial reporting department deadlines
  • Must have an Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting strongly preferred)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures in English
  • Ability to write procedure manuals
  • Ability to work independently and in a group environment (team player)
  • Ability to make sound judgments and solve problems
  • Must be proficient in Excel (ability to interpret and create spreadsheets), Word, Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Accounting experience in the timeshare industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger closing entries
  • Review, analyze and present financial statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts and maintain proper backup
  • Exercise proper judgment and present all findings with a game plan to resolve issues
  • Assist and support to other staff members and other department managers
  • Carry out any reasonable request by management that employee is capable of performing
