About The Position

The Accountant I – Tsali Care performs daily accounting and administrative support functions specific to the long-term care (LTC) facility. This role supports financial operations including revenue monitoring, census and payor mix analysis, accounts payable processing, payroll coordination, and cost report documentation preparation. The position serves as a key liaison between accounting and facility operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
  • Three (3) months are typically required to become proficient in most phases of the position.
  • Must demonstrate ability to prepare accurate journal entries and utilize Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and organized records.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements.
  • Demonstrated technical accounting knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in accrual accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month end accrual and prepaid entries as assigned.
  • Provide support for budget monitoring and respond to budget-related inquiries to assist operational decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze daily census activity and payer mix to ensure accurate revenue recognition and revenue targets are met.
  • Process and manage accounts payable for Tsali Care, including invoice entry, tracking, and timely payment.
  • Assist with payroll-related inquiries, run scheduling and labor reports, and monitor overtime for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and provide required reports to support the Tsali Care cost report process.
  • Ensures financial internal controls are being followed in accordance with CIHA’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in special projects, audits, and financial analysis assignments as directed.
  • Maintain organized and complete accounting files and documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Performs all duties according to established safety guidelines and CIHA policies.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
