About The Position

Aston Carter is partnering with a rapidly growing construction company in the Olathe area that is seeking an experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their team. Construction accounting experience is highly preferred, and a Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. This role will have very few HR duties. Compensation is flexible and will be based on relevant experience. This organization is on an impressive growth trajectory and is approaching $150 million in annual revenue. In this role, you will serve as the company’s primary accounting expert, acting as the go‑to resource for all accounting-related functions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll, and managing accounts payable and receivable. You will prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, ensuring compliance with tax laws and accounting standards. Proficiency in Excel, high attention to detail, and data entry accuracy are key skills required for this role.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
  • Experience in general ledger, reconciliation, and cash flow management.
  • Strong skills in Excel and attention to detail in data entry.
  • 2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred (3-5 years of experience in accounting if no degree).
  • Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately record day-to-day financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses, in the general ledger.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and sales tax on a monthly basis.
  • Handle bi-weekly payroll, monitor timesheets, and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate financial statements, such as income statements and balance sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with accountants to prepare for tax season and audits.
