About The Position

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is seeking an Accountability Program Manager to support continuous improvement processes related to our accountability system and school report cards. This Accountability Program Manager will lead the statewide effort to communicate accountability requirements, ensure accuracy and transparency in the reporting of the school report card data, and provide actionable data and reports for all stakeholders. Expertise in school and district leadership as well as the state's accountability system are required for this position. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate expertise in systems improvement. This position is located in the Office of Accountability and Research.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

  • A master's degree (doctorate preferred) in educational leadership or administration, educational research, or a related field
  • Experience in school and district leadership
  • Experience with South Carolina's accountability model
  • Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to work well with people, both technical and non-technical, to convey knowledge and build positive working relationships, including team members, executives, and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Meet with SCDE team members and external partners to understand needs and processes in the accountability system, develop plans and timelines to improve processes, and ensure the completion of those plans. Document processes and timelines for key deliverables in the accountability system.
  • Professional Development and Support: Develop and implement a professional development program to improve district and school awareness of data critical to the accountability system, how and when this data should be coded, reviewed, and checked, and processes for resolving errors. Connect district leadership to appropriate SCDE team members to solve specific issues.
  • Enhance User Experience: Lead the design process for the school report card website, develop processes for understanding user experience and needs, and ensure the design of the report card website helps users answer their questions.
  • Data Analysis and Communication: Conduct analysis on accountability data and provide audience-specific updates to improve understanding of the data as well as insights into school and district improvement practices.
  • Accountability Leadership: Provide guidance and recommendations on policy and administrative decisions related to accountability. Ensure compliance with accountability requirements.
