About The Position

The Account Manager is responsible for driving market growth and achieving quarterly and annual sales objectives by promoting client and company product portfolios. This role focuses on building strong relationships with customers, distributors, and manufacturing partners through strategic planning, consultative selling, and consistent execution. The Account Manager serves as a trusted advisor, delivering value through education, product expertise, and business-building support.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and foster long-term business relationships.
  • Demonstrated sales acumen with a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Strong consultative selling, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and leverage multiple data and information sources to develop effective strategies and tactics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive outside sales experience (foodservice industry preferred).
  • Experience managing multiple customers and product categories preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must reside in the local market and be able to travel during the work week.
  • Daily local travel by motor vehicle is required; occasional distance travel may be necessary.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, a safe automobile, and auto insurance with adequate limits.
  • Position requires Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bending, Turning and Lifting up to approx. 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Chef experience, Culinary knowledge, food preparation skills, or restaurant operations experience preferred.
  • Food safety certification preferred (may be completed during training if not already obtained).

Responsibilities

  • Achieve assigned quarterly and annual sales goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop and execute account-specific activity, event, and sales plans to increase product awareness and generate demand.
  • Build, foster, and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, manufacturers, and internal partners.
  • Manage assigned distributor relationships with accountability for sales growth and execution.
  • Deliver consultative sales presentations to distributors, merchandisers, buyers, and sales teams through in-person, virtual, and digital formats.
  • Frequently engage customers to educate them on product lines, applications, and value propositions; assist with menu ideation when beneficial.
  • Independently manage prospects through the full sales process, utilizing CRM systems and maintaining accurate, timely reporting.
  • Maintain updated sales reports and communicate progress regularly while meeting deadlines.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help customers make successful buying decisions.
  • Provide excellent customer service, resolve issues efficiently, and support long-term partnership growth.
