About The Position

The Account Manager plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional experience for our broker partners and employer groups throughout the enrollment and renewal lifecycle. This position is responsible for managing post-sale activities—ensuring that once a group is sold, their onboarding, annual renewal, and ongoing support are handled with accuracy, organization, and proactive communication. Success in this role requires strong project management abilities, excellent follow‑through, and a talent for managing multiple priorities without sacrificing quality. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and builds trusted relationships with brokers and clients. Serves as a link between Sanford Health Plan (SHP), employer groups and insurance agents who are prospective clients of SHP or have signed a Health Maintenance Contract with the Sanford Health Plan.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree in a business or related field is required.
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs is required.
  • Health insurance license required within 3 months of hire date.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or work experience equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and executing a strategic retention and growth plan for assigned employer clients, along with individual and Medicare lines of business.
  • Responsible for high customer satisfaction and retention of profitable business through formal reports, data analytics and presentation.
  • Establish, cultivate and manage relationships with consultants, brokers and producers understanding the value they bring to our clients.
  • Ability to strategically plan, negotiate and influence the interactions and relationships with brokers, consultants and clients to achieve strategic goals.
  • Facilitate the life-cycle of the client relationship from Request for Proposal (RFP) to renewal, acting as single point of contact for day to day tasks of assigned brokers and clients.
  • Be able to lead the resolution across all areas within the operation organization within a timely manner.
  • Must present information to difficult or sensitive accounts.
  • Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique broker and client populations.
  • Responsible for being a team member on our sales lines during normal business hours, and have a cross-trained understanding of the ACA, Medicare and Group lines of business.
  • May require some overnight and/or weekend travel (10%).
