About The Position

The Accounting Manager will report directly to and work closely with the Controller to ensure the accounting operations and banking functions of the company run smoothly. This position has access to confidential financial, budgetary and confidential information. The Accounting Manager will work with the President in preparing reports for monthly and annual close. The duties of the position are subject to change based on the needs of the organization. Oversees daily financial operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, ensuring compliance with GAAP and state licensing regulations.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate for the position will have five to seven years of recent experience as an Accounting Manager or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • Advance knowledge of accounting practices, full cycle accounting, laws and regulations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP),
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality work, and deadlines are adhered to.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to ensure projects are equally balanced.
  • Ability to analyze financial data to provide feedback and guidance based on analysis of accounts and report findings to President.
  • Must have excellent communication skills when providing instructions, creating detailed reports and offering insight to other department managers. This should include both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to provide problem solving to resolve or avoid problems as well as using this skillset to find solutions to complex financial issues.
  • Ability to use discretion when managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Intermediate and advanced computer skills using Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to use and understand excel formulas and use data sorting and filtering, i.e. Pivot table.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Corporate Accounting Department, ensuring  that disbursements and receipts are disbursed, collected, and recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the General Ledger and Balance Sheet to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Coordinate, manage and set up bank accounts and act as a liaison with banks to manage and optimize the company’s banking relationships.
  • Manage accounting staff by providing guidance and mentorship, while ensuring that the staff are performing tasks effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with both policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.  This includes staff accurately records all costs and income, preparing financial reports and reviewing account balance reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Monitor and manage organizational spending while ensuring that the accounting staff are coding expenses and revenues and are in compliance with both internal financial policies and external financial regulations.
  • Oversee the biweekly processing of checks.
  • Responsible for the management of the month end close, including but not limited to, ensuring that cash balances are accurate and accounted for, receivables have been followed up on, and payables have been recorded and disbursed in the appropriate period.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of the organizational budget.
  • Collaborate with auditors during the annual audit, managing the audit and ensuring timely responses to requests, and accurate financial data is supplied.
  • Prepare and files monthly sales and use tax returns, 1099, as well as other state, local, or federal reporting in a timely manner.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting on an as needed basis.

  • Financial Operations: Supervise the accounting team and manage daily transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Cash Management-Monitor cash flow, processing of invoices, entrance fees and refunds, banking
  • Month-End/Year-End Close-Manage the closing calendar, reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare journal entries.
  • Regulatory Compliance-Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, specifically regarding billing Medicare claims.
  • Auditing: Lead internal and external audits.
