Account Manager – Outside Sales – Tennessee, Nashville About BCS: Building Controls & Solutions (BCS) is a premier distributor and solutions provider in the Building Automation industry. We partner with top manufacturers to serve mechanical, electrical, and controls contractors, delivering products and services including HVAC controls, gas detection, access control, lighting systems, analytics, and IoT solutions. With a strong local branch presence and technical support teams, BCS helps customers succeed on complex commercial building projects. Position Overview: We are seeking a results-driven Account Manager to lead sales and territory development within a defined geography. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, managing key accounts, and expanding market share by delivering intelligent, value-added solutions in building automation. Success in this position requires technical aptitude, a consultative sales approach, and deep knowledge of the commercial construction or building systems industry.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of successful sales experience in HVAC, building automation, or related technical industries.
  • Proven ability to manage sales territory, build a pipeline, and consistently meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contractor channels, MEP systems, and specification-based sales processes
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred) and standard business tools (Microsoft Office, ERP systems)
  • Clear and confident communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Note: Only candidates with direct experience in Building Automation, HVAC controls, or a related technical industry will be considered.
  • Must reside in the Nashville, TN area .
  • Current Driver’s License and Liability Insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Technical understanding of BAS products, low-voltage controls, or smart building technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field
  • Experience collaborating with consulting engineers to influence system design and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Revenue Growth: Achieve or exceed sales and gross profit targets through disciplined territory management and strategic account development.
  • Customer Engagement: Manage a portfolio of contractors, engineers, and integrators; assess customer needs and align BCS solutions to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Business Development: Proactively identify and cultivate new customer relationships; consistently prospect to build pipeline and generate qualified leads.
  • Solution Selling: Present the full suite of BCS products and services, demonstrating ROI and performance benefits tailored to project and customer requirements.
  • CRM Proficiency: Utilize HubSpot CRM to manage the sales pipeline, track project status, log activities, and maintain account plans and strategies.
  • Specification Support: Collaborate with consulting engineers to influence design specifications and increase BCS participation in competitive bids.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work with the Technical Solutions Group to deliver customer value through training, project support, and technical consultation.
  • Market Presence: Represent BCS at trade shows, industry events, and professional organizations to build brand visibility and customer relationships.
  • Travel: Travel within the assigned territory to meet with customers, support opportunities, and grow market presence.
