About The Position

CNN is looking for a dynamic, results-oriented Programmatic Account Executive to join our Advertising Sales team and lead premium programmatic revenue generation. This is an opportunity to sell across one of the world's most trusted brands in journalism, with a portfolio that spans linear, digital, audio, social, branded content, and emerging platforms. The Programmatic Account Executive role isn't about maintaining the status quo-it's about growth. You will prospect new clients and expand existing relationships at major advertising agencies, trading desks, and direct clients while partnering with direct sales colleagues to craft innovative, multi-platform solutions that deliver measurable value for advertisers and fuel CNN's business. The ideal candidate has several years of programmatic experience earning, retaining, growing revenue across various inventory ad formats, devices and screens, as well as buying models (Private Marketplace, Programmatic Guaranteed).

Requirements

  • Passionate: Believes in CNN's legacy as a brand, believes in the mission of journalism, and is able to translate that to the marketplace.
  • Experienced: In-depth experience in the programmatic media ecosystem (including exchanges, ad networks, DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, OTT, CTV platforms) with a strong grasp of OTT monetization and measurement.
  • Results-Driven: Proven track record of building and nurturing executive-level relationships with advertisers and agency programmatic centers, developing long-term strategic plans, and negotiating high-value partnership agreements to drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Client-Focused: Prioritizes client business objectives and operates with a consultative approach educating, influencing, and challenging executive stakeholders to deliver results.
  • Strategic & Creative: Skilled in translating data, macro trends and performance insights into actionable recommendations that fuel ongoing revenue growth.
  • Polished Communicator: Exceptional verbal, written, presentation and communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts clearly and concisely for a broad audience.
  • Collaborative: A team player who works seamlessly across functions to deliver integrated, high-impact campaigns.

  • Proactive: Self-starter, who consistently 'beats' the RFP with upstream conversations - assessing client objectives/needs, and delivering CNN solutions

  • Deliver clear, strategic account plans with measurable growth milestones.
  • Build trusted, long-term partnerships with leading advertisers and agencies.
  • Position CNN as the premiere partner of choice for advertisers in the news category.

Responsibilities

  • Monetize the CNN Ecosystem: Lead programmatic selling efforts to all relevant buy side advertising partners: DSPs, Agency PBUs & Precision groups, brand marketers. Ensure timely, accurate, and successful delivery of programmatic campaigns and proactively seek to prevent delivery and performance concerns.
  • Drive Growth: Develop new business through prospecting and use data to identify strategic opportunities to engage buyers and drive incremental revenue and partner with CNN Sales team to drive deeper direct client conversations for our programmatic solutions and data resources.
  • Expand Partnerships: Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the programmatic ecosystem and engage at multiple levels to drive new revenue opportunities (e.g. 1st party data partnerships).
  • Collaborate to Win: Serve as a subject matter expert on programmatic business trends, best practices and ad technologies for internal Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to identify new opportunities for CNN in the programmatic marketplace.
  • Lead in Market: serve as thought leader for CNN's programmatic ad offerings and identify and influence media decision makers across the agency landscape.
