Check out our sizzle reel! JPA is actively seeking an Account Director, to join our Life Sciences, Communications Accounts Team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with rolling up their sleeves on a collaborative team, serving as task lead on multiple client accounts, and helping to support and develop new business. Prior PR agency experience with pharma, biotech or medtech clients is a must! This position is a full-time, hybrid role reporting to any JPA office (i.e., Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, New York City) 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 – 7 years of agency experience in PR/Communications or 9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Prior PR agency experience within Life Sciences - pharma, biotech or medtech clients is a must
  • Proven success leading Life Sciences PR campaigns, including media relations, thought leadership, and unbranded and branded awareness efforts
  • Proven track record in strategic planning that achieve exceptional client outcomes
  • Strong project, financial, and time management acumen
  • Understand regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Confidence in developing proposals and supporting new business pitches, with a track record of growing client accounts
  • Understanding of digital media role in integrated communication strategies
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility and professionalism
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects and tasks, and work both independently and as a team

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day account work on multiple accounts. Specific tasks may vary based on client need, but could include drafting written materials such as press releases, media pitches, and social content, working with specialists, driving traditional and social media outreach and engagement, and tracking client budgets
  • Responsible for supporting the PR leadership team with elements of the day-to-day business operations
  • Be proficient in building client relationships and coordinating with outside vendors. You will interact with external stakeholders such as media, patient advocates, and/or medical experts, as well as facilitate internal collaboration and client support across the agency
  • Manage the tactical execution of PR programs and lead the team on certain aspects of client campaigns. This may include national and local media campaigns, regulatory milestones, sponsored content, data communications, thought leadership and more
  • Actively participate in new business efforts, including research, brainstorming, developing capabilities, identifying opportunities for expanding services with existing clients, and participating in new business pitches
  • Facilitate materials review process for pharmaceutical regulatory/legal/medical review and work with broader team on implementing best practices
  • Acts as coaches for more junior members of the team
  • Oversee the budget and target goals with the client, delivering efficiency and forward planning.

  • Competitive pay and opportunities to advance. The anticipated starting pay for this role is between $125,000 and $145,000 annually, based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and location. You may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses. We review compensation annually and evaluate readiness for promotions every quarter.
