About The Position

The Access and Resource Sharing Department is looking to hire one student employee (Federal Work Study preferred) to assist with increased demand for Interlibrary Loan services. This role is ideal for students interested in hands-on experience in physically preparing and processing Interlibrary Loan books. A Student Assistant is needed to support the Interlibrary Loan Unit within the Access and Resource Sharing Department at the University of Florida Libraries. The Interlibrary Loan Unit processes requests for borrowing and lending books and articles with partner libraries. We are looking for a motivated student interested in helping with our increased volume in the Spring 2026 Semester. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the ILL Shipping Coordinator with:

Once trained, will be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Must be punctual, reliable, detail oriented, and work well with others.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Ability to safely use sharp instruments including scissors and box cutters.
Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

Be eligible for Federal Work Study.
Availability to work two hours per day, Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm. Preferably in the afternoon but can be split for 1 hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon.
The ability to lift up to 25 lbs for moving and sorting packages containing several books.
Physically able to perform tasks which include standing on a step stool, loading and pushing a 3-tier cart, carrying and transporting books, and other physical library tasks.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Previous library experience.
