About The Position

The ACC GROW program merges students’ academic learning directly with eight core career competencies necessary for employment success as identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Through ACC GROW, Austin Community College students learn, apply, and strengthen these real-world essential job skills, expand their digital fluency, and polish their professionalism. Students who advance to ACC GROW Associate III demonstrate mastery of these competencies, serve as peer mentors or project leads, and engage in high-level tasks requiring critical thinking, initiative, and professional judgment. These students evolve as emerging professionals with increased earning potential and are better prepared to meet the contemporary demands of Central Texas employers. The ACC GROW Associate III position is designed for advanced student employees who have demonstrated strong performance and competency growth in prior GROW roles. At this level, students take on greater independence and leadership in their assigned departments, often supporting special projects, training new team members, or optimizing workflows. Through continued mentorship and guided reflection, Associates III deepen their professional expertise in communication, leadership, and digital fluency, while contributing strategically to department goals. This role supports Austin Community College’s commitment to student success by transforming student employment into a meaningful, high-impact experience that bridges learning and career advancement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent.
  • Enrollment in an ACC program of study (college credit, continuing education, or adult education).
  • Principles of professional communication, leadership, and digital collaboration.
  • Customer service techniques and community engagement strategies.
  • General office software, digital publishing, or data management tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of prior ACC GROW training modules or promotion from an Associate I or II level is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Model proactive career management through advanced goal setting, professional networking, and self-directed learning aligned with post-graduation pathways.
  • Demonstrate professional written and verbal communication across platforms; may assist in drafting reports, creating digital content, or presenting updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Apply logical reasoning and creative problem-solving to enhance processes, evaluate outcomes, and propose data-informed improvements within assigned projects.
  • Lead or co-lead small teams or initiatives, providing peer coaching, constructive feedback, and accountability for deliverables.
  • Exhibit high standards of reliability, integrity, and adaptability; serve as a role model for professionalism within the workplace.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments, demonstrating initiative in coordinating tasks, mediating challenges, and achieving shared goals.
  • Leverage digital tools, platforms, and software to streamline workflows, manage data, or support departmental communications. Advanced Associates may assist with training others in technology use.
  • Managing projects with minimal supervision and meeting established deadlines.
  • Effectively using advanced communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
  • Applying organizational, analytical, and planning skills to complex tasks.
  • Entering, analyzing, and reporting data accurately.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professional discretion.
  • Demonstrate advanced digital literacy; may include data entry, database management, virtual collaboration tools, social media management, or content creation. Associates III may also assist in technology training or documentation.

Benefits

  • Full-time faculty and staff employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans, and AD&D.
  • ACC does not participate in Social Security.
  • ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty and Administrators Only).
  • Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal law.
