Academic Support Center Peer Tutor
About The Position
Peer tutors engage with fellow peers in any undergraduate course. Subjects range from 100-200 levels and core curriculum courses. Tutors meet with peers one-on-one through scheduled appointments for either 30min-1hr at one time. Appointment schedules are set for the semester by the tutor between Sunday-Friday. Tutors are expected to address questions and clarifications from the student as well as review subject material. Tutors may have to determine alternate ways of explaining material dependant on the students learning preference. Tutors are prohibited from answering homework or test questions that have not already been submitted for grading by the student. Review of graded assignments and material is acceptable.
Requirements
- College-level knowledge of subject
- Shepherd and Cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or better in subject being tutored
- Department endorsement
- Student must be in at least in their second semester of college.
- Writing tutors must have 1). completed ENGL 377 with a B or higher or 2). English department endorsement.
