About The Position

The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Adult Psychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine are looking for dedicated, innovative, and motivated full-time Outpatient Psychiatrists to join its faculty. This combined outpatient position includes 50% clinical effort spent at Huntsman Cancer Hospital ( HCH ) and 50% time spent in the general adult outpatient behavioral health clinics managed by the Huntsman Mental Health Institute ( HMHI ). We seek qualified professionals to help us meet the challenges of providing high-quality psychiatric services in a growing mental health care market. HMHI (as part of the University of Utah Health) is relied upon by our local and regional communities to improve overall health and quality of life. We do this by maintaining a commitment to outstanding patient care, the highest standard of training for medical students and residents, and the continued expansion of our pioneering research programs. Successful candidates will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry with rank based on academic experience and professional accomplishments. Requirements

  • Applicants should have experience or a strong desire to provide care to the Psycho-Oncology population, hold or be eligible to apply for a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah, and have expertise in adult outpatient psychiatry.
  • Completion of a residency in Psychiatry is required.
  • The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Obtaining board certification is a requirement for retention.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical care: 50% of clinical effort developing a Psycho-Oncology program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, a nationally recognized cancer research center and treatment hospital that serves patients with all types of cancer from throughout the Mountain West, including Utah and parts of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming.
  • In addition to clinical care, there will be opportunities for teaching residents, fellows, and health professionals from multiple different specialties.
  • There is potential to become a leader and champion in the growing relationship between Huntsman Cancer Institute and Huntsman Mental Health Institute.
  • The other 50% of the time will serve the mental health needs of the outpatient clientele in one or more satellite clinics operated by HMHI .
  • Provide cross coverage for vacations and meetings.
  • Engage in scholarly activities
  • Engage in patient care activities with learners (residents, medical students, physician assistant students, and fellows)
  • Serve as a medical student and resident mentor
  • Teaching/supervising medical students, residents, and fellows in psychiatric clinical rotations.
  • Administrative duties associated with clinical care provided
  • Report to and be reviewed annually by the Division Chief as part of School of Medicine faculty appointment.
