UMass Memorial Health, the premier health care system in Central Massachusetts, is seeking a full-time Academic Optometrist to join our growing team in Worcester and Northborough, MA. Position Highlights Work-life balance, with protected admin time and no evenings/weekends Patient and Provider Centered scheduling model Collaborate with 3 optometrists, 6 residents and 9 ophthalmologists Epic EMR system Opportunities to lecture, mentor and perform research Opportunities for community service Comprehensive benefits package Scope of Practice Perform comprehensive eye exams and contact lens evaluations Diagnose and manage a full spectrum of ocular diseases and conditions Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic treatments Provide urgent and emergency eye care when needed Exercise autonomy in clinical decision making Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the system Ensure continuity of care for patients throughout the system Practice Environment Outpatient clinic within a large, academic medical center Serve a diverse patient population with a robust referral base Enjoy a collegial, mission-driven atmosphere with a focus on patients, education and excellence

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited program
  • Licensed (or license-eligible) to practice in Massachusetts
  • Board certified or board eligible in optometry

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive eye exams
  • Provide emergency follow up care
  • Provide glaucoma co-management
  • Provide vision rehabilitation services
  • Provide same day service care
  • Prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses as needed
  • Perform comprehensive eye exams and contact lens evaluations
  • Diagnose and manage a full spectrum of ocular diseases and conditions
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic treatments
  • Provide urgent and emergency eye care when needed
  • Exercise autonomy in clinical decision making
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the system
  • Ensure continuity of care for patients throughout the system
