Interested in working with some of the best journalists around? We offer 10 weeks of intensive, hands-on experience in a region where big stories are the norm. We place interns throughout the Los Angeles Times: Metro/Local, Entertainment and Arts, Sports, Politics, Business, Features/Lifestyle (Fashion, Food, Travel, Home Design, Plants), Foreign/National, Opinion, De Los, Fast Break, Multiplatform Editing, Photography, Video, Data and Graphics, Design and Audience Engagement. These are paid internships and placements start in May or June. We do not have a fall internship program. Qualifications: Applicants must be students who attended or recently graduated from a college or university. They must be actively working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree and must be eligible to work in the U.S. Graduates may qualify if they’ve finished school within six months of the start of the internship. Applicants for the reporting and visual journalism positions must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car in good working condition. Internships are for students who have not worked professionally as staff journalists. A basic understanding of the work is required as interns are expected to hit the ground running when they arrive. A previous internship is recommended. With training from our staff, we will help develop, polish and elevate your work and add to your journalistic toolbox. These internship positions will be based in El Segundo, Calif. Occasional night and weekend work is possible. The pay scale the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting is $21.00 and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licenses, certifications, and other business or organizational needs.
