About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Division of Hospital Internal Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking an Academic Nocturnist. Mayo Clinic is top-ranked in more specialties than any other care provider according to U.S. News & World Report 2024-25. A track record as a medical educator and/or researcher is preferred. The Nocturnist is primarily responsible for patient admissions. No triaging responsibilities while admitting No cross-coverage responsibilities while admitting patients at the Saint Mary's campus Patient cross-cover limited to three services (total of 30-40 patients) when admitting at the Rochester Methodist campus. The average number of admissions per shift is 4. The Nocturnist may perform Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) role which includes triaging patient transfer request calls from Mayo Clinic Health System hospitals and other hospitals around the country, and liaising with Emergency Department staff. The MOD has no cross-cover or admitting responsibilities. Requirements

  • M.D., D.O. or foreign degree equivalent
  • Must have or be eligible for Minnesota medical license
  • Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in hospital medicine, or advanced training (fellowship or Master’s degree) and demonstrated scholarly activity (such as publication record or additional training or experience at a top-ranked academic medical center)
  • Track record as a medical educator and/or researcher
