JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Nocturnist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Hoffman Estates, IL • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 06/02/2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Nocturnist Schedule; Approximately 14–15 Shifts Per Month COVERAGE DATES • Start Date: June 2, 2026 • End Date: Ongoing • Approximately 14–15 Shifts Per Month • Dedicated Nocturnist Coverage PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: Average 18 Patients Per Shift • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Nephrology, Oncology, OB/GYN, Urology, Orthopedics FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 212 Beds • EMR System: Cerner • Office Equipment Available: Fully Equipped Inpatient Hospital Resources • Specialty Backup Available: Multiple Specialty Services Including Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, and Oncology • Support Staff Available: 4 Daytime Hospitalists and 1 Dedicated Nocturnist • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFIT • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Inpatient admission evaluations • Hospitalist medical management • Coordination with specialty consulting services JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Illinois Medical License Required • Board: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine • DEA: Active DEA Required • Certifications: Not Specified • Experience: New Graduates Accepted; Experience Preferred • Other Qualifications: Completion of Residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide overnight hospitalist coverage for inpatient medical services • Manage admissions and ongoing inpatient care • Coordinate care with specialty consult services • Document patient encounters accurately within Cerner EMR • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient care standards
Requirements
- Active Illinois Medical License Required
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Active DEA Required
- Completion of Residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
