About The Position

The Academic Data Specialist plays a critical support role on the district's Academic team. The role focuses on collecting, organizing, and visualizing academic performance data that informs instructional decisions and district strategy. The specialist works under the supervision of the VP of Academics and Instruction to support internal data requests, contribute to routine and ad hoc reporting, and assist in maintaining the integrity of district performance data systems. The role also provides secondary support for assessment logistics and operations. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong Excel and data management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for helping schools use data to improve outcomes for students. This role reports to the VP of Academics and Instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with managing and entering data with at least 95% accuracy; familiarity with data management systems (PowerSchool, SchoolMint Grow, Illuminate, Schoolytics, Deanslist, DRC- state data reporting system)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Regional anchor metrics to identify regional and school trends impacting performance outcomes.
  • Retrieve and disaggregate data from student information systems and state data portals.
  • Develop clean, easy-to-read charts, graphs, and reports to support stakeholder comprehension.
  • Recommend clear, consistent, and sustainable pathways for data retrieval and reporting.
  • Investigate positive and negative trends, and provide recommendations for new metrics.
  • Create analysis tools, processes, and protocols to support leaders and teachers in using data.
  • Support configuration, input, and ongoing maintenance of the Regional anchor metrics and School performance goals.
  • Build and maintain academic performance dashboards for continuous monitoring.
  • Ensure data sharing and storage processes remain secure in collaboration with the data team.
  • Partner with internal teams (Academics, Student Supports, Principal Managers, KIPP Forward) to enhance data utilization for instructional improvement.
  • Collaborate with external partners on data requests and cross-organizational projects.
  • Respond to unique and urgent data requests from regional leaders and administrative stakeholders.
  • Conduct training for school leaders, teachers, and key stakeholders on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting student learning data.
  • Provide guidance on using data to differentiate instruction and drive student achievement.
  • Support development, vetting, and implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned interim assessments.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the VP of Academics and Instruction on emerging data needs and strategy.
  • Handle ad hoc requests and other duties as assigned to meet evolving organizational priorities.
  • Additional duties within reason may be assigned; such duties must be considered as beneficial and impactful to the mission of the organization.
