About The Position

The Academic Coordinator works with the clinical team to provide academic education classes for adolescent person(s) served in residential treatment services. They will create and execute a lesson plan for multiple adolescents of various ages during their residential treatment. This job requires the ability to work independently, and as part of a team to provide the best care and education for the person(s) served.

Requirements

Associate degree required
Minimum of certification to substitute teach in the state of Missouri.

Nice To Haves

bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide academic education classes to all person(s) served in conjunction with their individualized academic treatment plan.
Collaborate with the associated schools of person(s) served to coordinate assignments and communicate regarding grades.
Complete an educational assessment on all person(s) served in the program.
Communicate with treatment team regarding academic goals and progress of person(s) served and participate in team meetings.
Identify ways to modify classroom work to meet the learning and behavioral needs of persons served with Individualized Education Plans and/or special education needs.
Develop and maintain education curriculum and present new curriculum to Program Leadership for approval.
Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria sets for substance use and/or mental disorders.
Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
Abide by program and agency policies and procedures
Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
