Job/Department Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide academic advising and related support services to undergraduate degree-seeking students, helping them understand degree requirements, navigate university curriculum, policies, and procedures, and assisting students in making informed decisions about their academic pathways. The position exists to promote student success, retention, and graduation, while fostering students’ overall engagement with the university. Work is performed under general supervision, with the expectation that the advisor exercises independent judgment and professional expertise in guiding students and referring them to appropriate campus resources.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate-level, job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.
