About The Position

The Feller Center for Academic Advising & Career Planning is a co-located office in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS). This position will serve as a full-time professional Academic Advisor in the Feller Center for Academic Advising and Career Planning in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. In addition to academic advising, this position will support the graduation clearance process for undergraduate students, lead the Peer Mentor Program, and serve as the liaison with Living-Learning Programs. The Feller Center is a student-centered, team-oriented work environment where staff who are eager to engage with and make a difference in the lives of undergraduate students are able to contribute their talents and grow as professionals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of experience providing counseling or advising services.
  • Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Knowledge of best practices in organization and administration.
  • Knowledge of public relations and marketing techniques.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred in Behavioral and Social Sciences, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Workday or other CRM or ERP systems in higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduate students both in-person and remotely via zoom, phone, and email.
  • Support graduation clearance through reviewing student records, performing general administrative tasks, using multiple campus software tools for tracking and communicating with students, and resolving questions or problems that arise.
  • Coordinate the Peer Mentor Program, including overseeing graduation planning workshops for new students.
  • Serve as liaison to living-learning and other special programs, including leading academic planning workshops for first-year BSOS majors in these programs.
  • Teach a section of UNIV100 or BSOS361 each year.
