About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking four Academic Advisor I – Boca Raton, FL. The College of Science Student Advising Services Office is responsible for providing general advising services. Summary of Responsibilities: Academic Advising Support: Provide academic advising to all undergraduate programs within the College of Science. Assist students with term-by-term course selection and the development of long-term study plans. Guide incoming transfer students in determining course equivalencies and registering for courses. Student Engagement and Success: Participate in college and university recruitment and outreach activities to support student enrollment. Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and retention initiatives. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain close communication with students, supervisors, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive advising approach. Assist with Orientation presentations, Workshops, and College of Science events. Administrative Support: Provide information about educational opportunities (Pre-health, internships, graduate studies, honors programs, etc.) Assist students experiencing academic difficulties by connecting them with appropriate campus resources. Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development seminars, and other student support-related meetings. Provide cross-training for academic staff as necessary. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in advising, counseling, orientation, student services, or science related field at a University or College level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
  • Specialization in Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs.
  • Experience with student database software and degree audit software, prior use of Banner/DARS.
