About The Position

Advises undergraduate students in the construction of schedules and core curriculum, major, and elective requirements. Assists in registration and drop/add, approves AP credit, and approves transfer credit to satisfy curriculum requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior employment in higher education, teaching K-12 or in a position requiring strong customer service.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must display a high level of enthusiasm coupled with a student-centered and student-friendly approach and mindset, ideal for working with college students.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite, virtual platforms and be familiar with student information systems.
  • Must clear a criminal background check prior to onboarding.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information to students to make informed decisions to achieve academic success.
  • Advise students on academic policies, procedures, and graduation requirements at the University.
  • Assist students with course selections and information about the services and resources available on campus.
  • Advise students on elective courses, completion of major, concentration and sub-plan requirements.
  • Advise students on academic career and personal issues, making appropriate referrals to the Career Development Center and Counseling Services.
  • Ensure transfer credit is appropriately evaluated and approved in the department.
  • Meet with students to review their degree in progress status and plan for final semesters.
  • Encourage students to seek out-of-classroom opportunities in research and internships reflective of the major, to build their resume.
  • Advise students of graduation application deadlines.
  • Direct students to the appropriate faculty within the department for information on post-baccalaureate and graduate programs.
