Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to gain access to U.S. military installations; NACI clearance eligible (if required)
  • Minimum 1+ year of mechanical maintenance experience, preferably on the Abrams Family of Vehicles
  • Military vehicle maintenance tools and test equipment
  • Technical manuals and diagnostic troubleshooting procedures
  • PMCS and MWO execution
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain a Tank Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass Abrams Job Proficiency Certification
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Work at heights and in confined/enclosed military vehicles
  • Meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR)
  • Work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to travel as required to support GDLS CONUS operations, including Fort Hood

Responsibilities

  • Execute Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on M1A1 SA, M1A1ED, M1A2 SEP V2, and M1A2 SEP V3 Abrams platforms
  • Install and implement Modification Work Orders (MWOs) on Abrams tank variants
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot systems, subsystems, and components using technical manuals, flow diagrams, and diagnostic procedures
  • Perform maintenance in both field and shop environments, on and off military installations
  • Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment, and government property
  • Support maintenance, fielding, and retrofit operations at Fort Hood and other CONUS locations
  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned
