MITRE is seeking an experienced and dynamic Systems or Network Engineer to lead the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI) team to accelerate acquisition and transition of capabilities, drive technical innovation, and formulate comprehensive strategies while providing guidance to reach sponsor outcomes. The Engineer will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams in the design, development, integration and transition of advanced battle management and command and control (C2) capabilities. The capabilities include MITRE-led risk reduction prototyping and product evaluation efforts in laboratory environments. This role requires a strong background in the digital infrastructure network, full information technology (IT) stack, program management, and systems engineering, as well as proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, network engineering, computer science, or related technical field; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in DoD acquisition processes and program management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, systems integration, and operational experimentation.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
  • Current U.S. Secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret (or higher) security clearance.
  • Regular access to NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS workstations
  • Located or willing to relocate to Bedford, McLean/Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Dayton/Wright Patterson AFB
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Nice To Haves

  • Current TS//SCI clearance
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with full IT stack to include cloud computing, geographically distributed SD-WAN networking, edge-compute nodes, and data-flow optimization technology
  • Familiarity with modeling & simulation tools (e.g., AFSim, Cameo, MBSE).
  • Familiarity with command and control (C2) and battle management
  • Prior experience supporting INDOPACOM, EUCOM, or other Combatant Commands.
  • Prior task or project leader experience.
  • Experience in managing and training junior staff members
  • Background in corporate computing accreditation and compliance requirements
  • Bedford-based preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage team of 10 FTE to develop work products and perform tasks to meet stated outcomes, objectives, and milestones
  • Work with sponsor to develop and shape task work plan and scope and execute to that work plan
  • Identify and address gaps that sponsors must address to advance desired outcomes
  • Partner with sponsors and supporting contractors to identify and map current and future state capabilities, processes
  • Develop and execute processes to accelerate capability experimentation, acquisition, and transition within ABMS
  • Provide subject matter expertise in ABMS DI domains
  • Shape and guide analyses, experimentation, demonstrations, and operational assessments
  • Shape and guide the stand up and execution of a systems integration lab and work with government and industry partners on digital infrastructure integration
  • Work across ABMS to contribute to overall project objectives and goals
  • Mentor and develop project staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and sponsors.
