About The Position

Consistent with the Christian mission and Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Director of Healthy Living, the ABC Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the ABC Program. S/he will assist with the development of quality programs and provide supervision and guidance to program staff to ensure all specific duties are carried out successfully.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations and ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within 30 days of hire: Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Membership Software training
  • Within 90 days of hire: Restore Ministry ABC training; Pink Ribbon certification, Facilitating Change in Small Groups
  • This position requires elevated security permissions (administrative) to one or more systems which store or maintain sensitive and/or confidential information
  • This position requires access to sensitive and confidential information
  • All system activity performed by individuals working in this position is subject to periodic system audits
  • This position may be subject to privileged information such as organization changes, staffing changes, security events or other sensitive communications and is expected to protect and keep sensitive or confidential communications and/or information private
  • Failure to comply with any security and/or sensitivity related duties as defined in this section will result in disciplinary action which may include termination

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and risk free environment at all times while meeting the individual needs of the participants
  • Regularly communicate and lead partnerships with local hospitals and agencies; promote and market the program to the YMCA and to the community through doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and breast cancer affiliated groups
  • Attend groups, community organization/partners, center meetings, board meetings to promote and provide information regarding the benefits and success of the ABC program
  • Coordinate groups as needed: Take an active part in recruitment efforts, perform participant intakes, determine cohort details (days/times/space) and coordinate staff/volunteers, schedule lead orientation and graduation, and communicate other program options to participants
  • Provide direct supervision to ABC Coordinators. Take part in the hiring process of new ABC Coordinators.
  • Schedule and lead regular meetings with ABC Coordinators for the purpose of providing operational support, growth and learning
  • Travel to each ABC Center as needed to meet with the Coordinator and relevant staff to stay updated on the current program at each Center
  • Track all statistics regarding program participation for grant purposes and progress reports. Ensure all data is accurate and submitted to the Sponsored Programs department in a timely manner meeting deadlines.
  • Work with centers to ensure all grants are applied for through the Association office and managed cooperatively
  • Coordinate various higher level meetings such as Lymphedema Education for all programs locations, Quarterly educational meetings, and others such as the Women’s Breast Health Awareness Meeting normally held in October
  • Know, understand, train and execute all program policies and emergency procedures associated with the program; ensure safety and quality at all times
  • Ensure all program schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; comply with the program schedule, arriving to work daily on time and working as a flexible team player
  • Actively take part in the Annual Giving campaign to raise monies supporting outreach and ABC, including providing support to centers as needed with October fundraising events
  • Ensure the integrity of the ABC Program is kept through program records; maintain records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned area of responsibilities
  • Collaborate with supervisor and other program staff and volunteers to develop standard operating procedures and identify opportunities to improve/enhance the program through innovative new ideas
  • Actively participate in the expansion of ABC into additional centers and locations
