About The Position

Description of Internship Opportunity:The American Bar Association is seeking an intern to join our team and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional nonprofit environment. This unpaid, educational internship offers valuable opportunities for learning, skill development, and résumé building. The intern will observe and support ongoing work, gain exposure to a variety of resources, and participate in training designed to build professional knowledge and competencies. The intern will be part of the Center for Global Programs, reporting mainly to the Latin America and the Caribbean and the Outreach Divisions. The intern will engage in a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to: Developing outreach materials and reports. Conducting targeted research on matters related to international affairs. Assisting in the editing of progress reports. Creating graphics and imagery for the web site. Research opportunities to establish links with other organizations and on-line resources, including potential funding opportunities within the scope of ABA CGP’s programs. Collecting and editing story submissions and building web story pages. Assisting in organizing Center for Global Programs events and promotional efforts and collaborating with other entities within Center for Global Programs to optimize results. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 years old or older and: currently enrolled in (or in a deferred enrollment/gap year status recognized by) a post-secondary academic institution (i.e. undergraduate, graduate) and in a program/area of study directly related to the purpose of the internship program; or a recent (i.e. up to one (1) year) graduate of a post-secondary academic institution (i.e. undergraduate, graduate) with a degree in a program/area of study directly related to the purpose of the internship program. Relevant Program/Area of Study: International Relations;Political Science; Pre-Law; Global Studies;Communications; Journalism; Spanish; Or fields related to international development, government, and/or Hispanic Studies. Additional Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated interest in international rule of law, human rights, democratic governance, and justice-sector development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Strong research, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to contribute to outreach materials, reports, web content, and program documentation. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn, with the ability to take initiative while working under guidance and supervision. Experience or familiarity with digital communications tools, including basic graphic design, content management systems, or social media platforms, is a plus. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred. Interest in nonprofit, international development, or grant-funded programming, including exposure to program operations, monitoring and evaluation, or donor reporting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and contribute positively to a mission-driven organization. Requirements
