The ABA Specialist is responsible for managing a caseload of individuals being served by the Applied Behavior Analysis Services Department for Life Unlimited while working towards obtaining their certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Applied Behavior Analysis uses the scientific principles of behavior to promote positive and socially significant behavior change in humans, specifically those served by Life Unlimited. The ABA Services Department will collaborate with staff and other professionals in the agency to ensure best practice and consistency for individuals being served. The person in this position reports to the Director of ABA Services.

  • Manage a caseload of individuals as assigned by the Director of ABA Services under close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments in accordance with best practice in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, which may include (but is not limited to) conducting functional analyses, conducting reinforcer assessments, conducting preference assessments, conducting skills assessments, collecting descriptive data, and interviewing caregivers
  • Develop, implement, and train caregivers to implement behavior support plans based on behavioral function and taking into consideration contextual fit
  • Create data collection instruments, graph collected data, and critically analyze graphed data to make treatment decisions
  • Modify behavior support plans based ongoing assessment of collected data, as needed
  • Report progress for each individual served within monthly summary documentation
  • Maintain minimum monthly billable units as determined by the Director of ABA Services through self-monitoring of billing documentation entered in Therap; reconcile weekly Therap report with actual service
  • Keep abreast of current trends in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and utilize that research to improve service delivery to consumers being served by Life Unlimited
  • Maintain supervision requirements as determined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board by meeting with Director of ABA Services (or other assigned supervisor) at least bi-weekly for supervision and review of current caseload, including scheduling and advocating for on-site supervision as needed
  • Maintain shared calendar outlining service locations to be updated the week prior to implementation
  • Other activities related to the dissemination of behavior analysis, including (but not limited to) attending plan meetings, attending staff trainings, and attending house meetings of individuals receiving active services
  • Obtain and maintain Registered Behavior Technician certification throughout training process
  • Whenever applicable based on set criteria, maintain provisional license requirements as determined by the Missouri Behavior Analyst Advisory Board
  • Maintain the ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned
  • Have, or be working towards obtaining, a Masters Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field
  • Must be working towards meeting the requirements to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Must be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • When applicable, must be a provisionally licensed behavior analyst in the state of Missouri and keep licensure current at all times
  • Prior knowledge, or ability to seek supervision related to gaining experience implementing functional behavior assessment, creating behavior support plans, and training caregivers
  • Prior knowledge or ability to seek supervision related to gaining experience with interpreting data and developing reports and correspondence
  • Strong working knowledge of behavior analytic assessment, data analysis, program design, and treatment implementation
  • Ability to meet deadlines as determined by Director of ABA Services and/or supervising BCBA
  • Ability to engage in abstract reasoning and problem solving
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage time effectively, and maximize efficiency
  • Must obtain a Class E drivers license during new hire orientation must carry minimum coverage applicable by law for auto insurance
  • Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination
  • Experience working with adults with IDD, especially experience working in a residential or community-based service delivery model preferred
