About The Position

Tyto Athene is searching for a 911 Configuration Field Technician with expertise in public safety environments to join our dynamic team supporting our Enterprise NG9-1-1 solution for our customer’s Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) across CONUS, Hawaii, and Guam. This role is vital in ensuring the reliability and security of our network that transports both data and voice communications. The ideal candidate will possess experience with public safety environments, Cisco network equipment, telephony technology, and demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work-related experience.
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or NENA ENP are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telephony, VoIP, and/or network field support roles. Experience in a 9-1-1 or public safety setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting E911/NG9-1-1, public safety communications, or mission critical networks.
  • Ability to read wiring schematics, patch panel layouts, and circuit diagrams.
  • Knowledge of ethernet and fiber optic cabling.
  • Knowledge of grounding and direct current (DC) wiring, and rack installation standards.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements
  • Experience with SIP/RTP and VoIP technologies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Knowledge with Cisco line of network equipment. Additional vendor network equipment (Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, etc.) experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull 200 lbs.
  • Secret Clearance Eligible
  • Candidate must be based in Oahu, Hawaii
  • Valid Drivers license and ability to travel to customer sites
  • Up to 50% travel local or non-local
  • Valid Passport

Responsibilities

  • Performing customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex 911 equipment and systems
  • Conducting on-site installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper working order.
  • Diagnose equipment start-up malfunctions and taking corrective action.
  • Performing ad-hoc and predetermined work assignments with instructions.
  • Following all established guidelines, procedures and policies.
  • Working on assignments which are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required
  • Coordinating all repair activities in priority sequence to ensure adherence to contractual service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Working in a customer environment with systems operated in a 24/7 environment which require immediate response times (either while on-shift or after hours on-call).
